Organizers


The Paris congress will be managed by the Institute of Latin American Studies of Sorbonne Nouvelle University (IHEAL) and its research laboratory, the Center for Research and Documentation on the Americas (CREDA) (Sorbonne Nouvelle University, CNRS), both members of CEISAL.


IHEAL

Founded in 1954 by the geographer Pierre Monbeig, the Institut des hautes études de l'Amérique latine is a center for teaching, research and cooperation between France and Latin America. Attached to the Université Sorbonne Nouvelle, it has a permanent staff of twelve teachers, plus visiting professors, CNRS researchers and an administrative team.  
IHEAL offers Master's and PhD courses in Latin American studies, based on its six disciplines: history, sociology, anthropology, economics, geography and political science. The Editions de l'IHEAL publishes the journal Cahiers des Amériques Latines and specialized books. 
Located on the Condorcet Campus in Aubervilliers, IHEAL is a central institution for cooperation and research on Latin America.




The Institute of the Americas

 The Institute of the Americas (IdA) is a French scientific network created in 2007 and supported by the Department of Higher Education and Research, the National Center for Scientific Research (CNRS), Sorbonne Nouvelle University, the Department of Europe and Foreign Affairs, as well as the Condorcet Campus. The Institute of the Americas federates Humanities and Social Sciences research efforts on the Americas through higher education and research programs structured throughout France. It fosters intellectual exchange at national, European and global levels, in more than twenty disciplines. The institute’s national network is made up of around sixty French higher education and research institutions, spread throughout France, representing more than 1,000 scholars and 250 research teams. The consortium operates in the American hemisphere as well, where it sponsors scientific collaborations in its 12 international poles. The Institute of the Americas promotes different scientific approaches from a comparative, trans-American and transdisciplinary perspective, thus contributing to the emergence of new approaches and the affirmation of French academic and institutional excellence.
